Adelia Update

Family and Friends,

I'd like to share with you the latest news about our little munchkin. She's growing so fast and is quite the apple of her parents' eyes. :)

She is coming up on 15-months of age at the end of this month. She is very active, loving, and fun! She can now verbalize MANY words, and she loves to attempt new ones. She still uses some sign language, but she's mostly moved into the verbal realm. She has also begun to make animal sounds like "mooo" and "meow". She loves to color, build, and be creative.

We had a parent-teacher conference with her teacher on Thursday. It sounds like she's doing really well in school. She does hesitate to play with the other kids a whole lot, but that might go back to some of the bullying she's endured. She seems to interact with our friends' kids when at home, but they are fewer of them when that happens.

Adelia is still only about 18 lbs., but she's doing well. She was released from the care of her specialist a few weeks ago. He did express a concern about her low weight, but after I explained how well she eats, he moved on. Speaking of eating, she is still out eating every child in her class. I had breakfast with her at school yesterday, and I can testify to that. What a munchkin! She loves food just like her mommy!
Here are a few pictures taken last night (11/13/2009). Enjoy!

More Potty News

Okay. Okay. How much can one person write about potty-ing? Sorry. I just can't get over how excited I am. Let me share the latest!

Tonight, after Adelia's bath, I was again letting her "air out". We were sitting in the hall when she made a B-line for the bathroom. She lifted the lid of her potty, set down, and let the river flow. She received a sticker for doing such a great job. She then refused to get off the toilet for the next 15 minutes or so. I was finally able to pry her away.

The story doesn't end there. A few minutes later, she returns to the potty again. I thought she may have just been going to it to get another sticker thinking she could just sit on it. Nope. She knew the drill. She pee-pee'd yet again. She earned her second sticker!

So, she's now up to 3 successful potties! YEAH!!! I'm so excited! She might actually be ready to start formal training.

PS - Do you think Adelia will be embarassed by these posts one day? :) Hey, I could take a picture of the whole thing, so she better just be thankful.

Potty News

Where to begin? Well, I can tell you where the story ends at least. Adelia tinkled in her potty tonight for the first time. It had only been out of its box for about 15 minutes when she decided to have a seat and tinkle.

Now, for the rest of the story. I've been thinking about starting Adelia on the potty training track, but I know it is a little early. Well, I found the potty I wanted on Friday, so I just got it thinking we could have it whenever the time came. Then I decided it might be nice to have it set up in Adelia's bathroom so she could get use to its presence and purpose. So, I was unpacking it tonight.

Meanwhile, Adelia was running around naked as a jay bird. She had just finished bathtime, and due to another bad diaper rash, I was letting her "air out".

After a few minutes of playing with the potty, Adelia decided to take a break. Then, suddenly, she walks over, opens the lid, and asks for help sitting. Two seconds later, she's standing up and I see drips. And, yes, sure enough, she had pee-pee'd in the new potty. Needless to say, that tiny puddle got more praise than a puddle in the Sahara. At the age of 14 months and 4 days, Adelia used her first potty! :)

Okay, all moms...I know this doesn't mean she's potty trained or even ready to do so. But it's still exciting! :)

Thanks for listening to the pee-xiting news!!!

New Stuff

I just had to share this. Last night, when we got home from work/school, Adelia went straight to her high chair for supper. We started feeding her before we had our own supper ready. Before she started eating her supper, she and I said her blessing. Then, once Jake and I fixed our supper, we sat down to eat. We held hands to say our blessing. Adelia started fussing. I looked up to see what was bothering her. She was reaching for my hand to say the blessing with us. It melted my heart! How I love that little girl!!!
